School District Budget Statement
by Adam Yuro, President, Bedford Teachers Association

Bedford’s Board of Education (BOE) adopted a school budget at its meeting on April 2nd which will be presented to the community for decision on May 20th. The BOE charged the school’s administration with the task of developing a budget that would be fiscally responsible.  I have watched all of the school board meetings over the past few months while the budget was being finalized and have observed the school board struggle with decisions on which programs to preserve, and which to cut.  The board weighed program value, staffing, costs and resources in order to arrive at a budget which is appropriate in the economic times we now find ourselves.  The proposed budget calls for a modestincrease over last year’s costs, and preserves the basic quality of educational program in our district.  This budget represents their best efforts and is worthy of support. Let us look with optimism toward our future by taking stock in the children of Bedford Central Schools.  An investment in our children will guarantee our community a secure future. Let's make a pledge to safeguard our most precious natural resources by making a commitment to defend, speak out and vote on behalf of our children. Your support of the school budget will help to ensure that the quality of education in Bedford remains high.  Let’s work together to pass this school budget
